“The Ministry of Love was the really frightening one. There were no windows in it at all. Winston had never been inside the Ministry of Love, nor within half a kilometer of it. It was a place impossible to enter except on official business, and then only by penetrating through a maze of barbed-wire entanglements, steel doors, and hidden machine-guns nests. Even the streets leading up to its outer barriers were roamed by gorilla-faced guards in black uniforms, armed with jointed truncheons”

Welcome to the Ministry of Lo…. errr, Guantanamo Bay.
Okay, so we all know about the infamous GTMO (Guantanamo Bay detention camp), if not from the stories of torture and unconstitutional detainment then maybe from the second Harold and Kumar movie. It was established by the Bush administration to from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Since then prisoners have made accusations of torture, drugging, sexual assault, starvation, and other forms of cruelty. It might be worth mentioning that torture is a war crime.
But Bush has admitted to it.

Among many other lies and unkept promises made during the Obama campaign, one was to close down Guantanamo. As of now there are still 171 prisoners. What happened? The NDAA or the National Defense Authorization Act happened. Not only did it halt the closure of Guantanamo but it gave way for the birth of more like it across the US! The new laws allow for the indefinite detention of not just foreign “threats” to the United States, but also citizens of the United States. Threats would include anyone labeled as a “terrorist”, which will soon become anyone who is a threat to the government and it’s power. Which includes Occupiers, Anonymous, Ron Paul supporters, activists, or anyone who stands in their way. In fact London (aka Airstrip One) has already classified Occupiers as terrorists.
And just remember, Big Brother is always watching.
Thoughtcrime was not a thing that could be concealed forever. You might dodge successfully for a while, even for years, but sooner or later they were bound to get you.
